Giorgi Vardiashvili turns curated, iconic images from popular culture into indispensable feature of one’s identity through the act of photo manipulation.

In the transformative process, these images and objects not only exist independently in the digital realm but also creates narratives of specific events and personas/images that resonate deeply.

The selection of images draws from the multitude of international cultural scenes, all the while echoing the pulse of popular social events within the local context.

An intriguing element lies in the artist’s consistent use of the rose as a symbolic thread throughout. As the rose is intertwined with the artist’s identity initials adding a touch of subtle irony to the entire series.

Each symbol is a footprint the artist leaves while searching for the cultural contexts of the images.
